Ferns and Forest Trail Ferns and Forest Trail Suitable for students, families, and adults. This trail winds through the orchard, field, and along seasonal streams. It is composed of two loops with interpretive stops along the way. Visitors can see a variety of soil types, plants, and forest and witness the positive impact of careful forest and agricultural practices. Each loop is less than a quarter mile long. The entire walk takes approximately one hour. The trail is self-guiding using a trail pamphlet available at the Museum.The trail is not recommended for individuals having walking difficulties. No open-toed shoes or pets are allowed on the trail. Long pants are recommended. Guided trail walks are available by appointment. They are also scheduled during the operating season and are posted on the website calendar. The trail is closed only during deer hunting season. Small groups are welcome.
